For a democratic, informed, and participatory constituent process in Chile
Chile
Guarding a democratic, informed, and participatory constituent process where citizens are actively involved
Project duration

- Espacio Público
- Universidad Diego Portales
Objective
To strengthen and expand the work of Contexto Factual–a group of organizations that come together to promote citizen participation in Chile’s constitutional process in 2020, including diverse voices, segments typically unaware of political processes, and traditionally excluded groups.
Context
Chile is experiencing a historic opportunity for deliberation that requires an active and informed participation of citizens. In order to achieve a substantive change, participation cannot be limited only to voting in elections and plebiscites– it must go much further. Therefore, an empowered citizenry that can advocate through institutional means on the debate for the creation of a new Constitution becomes essential.
Action plan
• Generate useful content for citizens about the constituent process and its historical context.
• Develop a communication strategy with audience segmentation, with special emphasis on women and indigenous peoples.
• Develop communication pieces in different formats based on their audiences (such as radio capsules, posters, podcasts, etc.).
• Try to reach wider audiences through a content verification campaign on the constituent process.
